Celtic vs. Arsenal - The Celtic Park Factor!

Celtic have had a good start to the SPL season with a convincing win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, European confidence is high following a rare champions league away win in the qualifier against Dynamo Moscow and then of course we have the Celtic Park factor!

Over the last several years the Bhoys really have turned Celtic Park into a European fortress, Celtic haven’t lost a group stage game at home in the Champions league since Barcelona in 2004.

Arsenal come into this game on the back of an unbelievable 6-1 win away to Everton, and I’m fairly sure that those Celtic fans that watched Match of the day on Saturday night may have had some issues getting to sleep!

''The atmosphere is always heated in Scotland and we expect that, but at the end of the day it is always 11 versus 11 on the pitch and that is what matters,'' said the Arsenal boss.

''We have been all over Europe to very heated places and we know by experience all that matters is how well way we play.

''If we play well we can keep the atmosphere low-key and that is all down to our performance.''

Arsenal have injury doubts over Bacary Sagna, Cesc Fabregas and Denilson for the match, while Celtic have their own injury worries with Glenn Loovens and Shaun Maloney

Arsenal, on paper, are undoubtedly stronger in every position on the field and the only thing that prevents me from backing them heavily is the Celtic Park factor.

The Gunners will have to cope with a true partisan atmosphere and looking at the odds from William Hill, maybe Celtic are good value for a sneaky home win!

Trivia: Celtic hold a strange record for most goals disallowed in a single game; On April 2 2000, Celtic had four goals chalked off in 17 minutes against Kilmarnock, including three from a distraught Tommy Johnson. Celtic still won the match 4-2!
