Racing from Goodwood 29/08/09

Morning All!

It's such a competitive days racing today - that I must admit to being unsure about the big race of the day - The Celebration Mile 15.10 Goodwood - After a lot of agonising I've gone with Delegator for Detorri and Godolphin ahead of Zacinto for Ryan Moore and sir Michael Stoute.
But I could not talk about this race without giving honourable mention to Maclove - I've had two huge wins on Maclove this year when Mickey Fenton rode him to victory at epsom and at Salisbury beating Confront on both occasions. I'm a huge fan of this horse and I will definitely be having an Eachway bet on him!

But my tip of the day has to be Delegator - Frankie has made me lots of cash in the last few weeks and long may it continue!!!

Should be a great day's racing!!

Premier League Picks 29/08/09

Evening all! Here’s my list of Premier League picks for the weekend! (Odds are from William Hill.)

Some tough games to call this week, not least the meeting of Manchester United and Arsenal - my feeling is that they’ll play out some kind of scoring draw.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Chelsea v Burnley – there’s no way Burnley can provide another upset is there??

Chelsea 2 Burnley 0

Blackburn 1 West Ham 2

Bolton 0 Liverpool 2

Stoke 1 Sunderland 1

Tottenham 3 Birmingham 1

Wolves 1 Hull 0

Man Utd 1 Arsenal 1

Portsmouth 0 Man City 2

Everton 2 Wigan 1

Aston Villa 2 Fulham 1

Racing tips from Newmarket 28/08/09

My pick for today is Merchant of Dubai in the 16.05 from Newmarket.

Had a fantastic trip in the long awaited comeback here a fortnight ago, and looks likely to go close today even if there is only a slight improvement on last time out.

The ones that Merchant has to beat are Recession Proof and Cyborg. Enjoy!!!

result from Lingfield

Evening All!

Hope you all backed Hawk's eye very heavily, that was an extremely satisfying win this afternoon!

Racing from Lingfield

Racing from Lingfield

Sorry it’s been a few days between racing tips!

This afternoon’s card at Lingfield has caught my eye, with Hawke’s Eye in the 2.50 looking the pick of the bunch.

Switching to Mike de Kock’s yard led to Hawk’s Eye completing a fantastic win at Windsor recently, conditions at Lingfield appear to be similar, hard to beat with a 6lb penalty.

The Market appears to be backing this selection very heavily!!

Navajo Nation and Swift Chap are the other runners in this field to be wary of.

West Ham vs Millwall

Banning the offending fans for life isn't good enough.
According to some sources within the police force, a number of the fans involved in the violence, were already serving "life" bans from football.

This may sound harsh, but kick the clubs out of the cup!

If that is the only way to get the message across to these morons - then that is exactly what the FA should be doing!

We don't need to be back in the 70's and 80's!

Celtic vs Arsenal

I'm not going to be making a prediction around a shock win for Celtic tonight, I think that Arsenal will be far too strong for the Bhoys..

So my betting will be around goal scorers... and I do think Celtic will score tonight, maybe Shaun Maloney for an anytime goal is the way to go??

I should point out that comments I make about Celtic are blinded by my loyalty to the green and white part of Glasgow!

York Races tip for the 3.25 Radiohead

Morning All!

My tip for today is Radiohead in the Coolmoore Nunthorpe Stakes at 3.25 current betting is around 4-1.

This is a bet of loyalty more thean anything else, I saw Radiohead win a fantastic race at Ascot back in June in the Norfolk stakes - Probably my favourite finish this year!

Enjoy and good luck!

Winners At York races and some football!

Really good day at the races today, my two tips for the day earning a first and a place between them, Sea the Stars did make me sweat though, and then my later tip to keep backing frankie detorri returned two places and a win!

So... fairly pleased and the days winnings didn't look too bad either!

Time to get a few beers and turn my attention to the Celtic V Arsenal match tonight!

Haven't looked closely at the card yet, but I suspect I'll be backing both Monsieur Chevalier and Yes Mr President, possibly Shamwari Lodge as well.

Enjoy the footie keep your comments coming, and I hope you all backed Sea the Stars as heavily as I did!!

Treble for Detorri?

Not a terrible shout, I've backed Dettori in the 14:15, and as I mentioned earlier Godolphin are bang in form.... but I have real doubts about Masery in the 14:50 - definitely worth a punt though!

Celtic vs. Arsenal - The Celtic Park Factor!

Celtic have had a good start to the SPL season with a convincing win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, European confidence is high following a rare champions league away win in the qualifier against Dynamo Moscow and then of course we have the Celtic Park factor!

Over the last several years the Bhoys really have turned Celtic Park into a European fortress, Celtic haven’t lost a group stage game at home in the Champions league since Barcelona in 2004.

Arsenal come into this game on the back of an unbelievable 6-1 win away to Everton, and I’m fairly sure that those Celtic fans that watched Match of the day on Saturday night may have had some issues getting to sleep!

''The atmosphere is always heated in Scotland and we expect that, but at the end of the day it is always 11 versus 11 on the pitch and that is what matters,'' said the Arsenal boss.

''We have been all over Europe to very heated places and we know by experience all that matters is how well way we play.

''If we play well we can keep the atmosphere low-key and that is all down to our performance.''

Arsenal have injury doubts over Bacary Sagna, Cesc Fabregas and Denilson for the match, while Celtic have their own injury worries with Glenn Loovens and Shaun Maloney

Arsenal, on paper, are undoubtedly stronger in every position on the field and the only thing that prevents me from backing them heavily is the Celtic Park factor.

The Gunners will have to cope with a true partisan atmosphere and looking at the odds from William Hill, maybe Celtic are good value for a sneaky home win!

Trivia: Celtic hold a strange record for most goals disallowed in a single game; On April 2 2000, Celtic had four goals chalked off in 17 minutes against Kilmarnock, including three from a distraught Tommy Johnson. Celtic still won the match 4-2!

Tips from York 18/08/09

Sea the Stars in the 3.25 at York, ridden by Kinane. I know it's an obvious and in know way surprising choice but, Sea the Stars is the top rated horse in the world, the ground up at York today appears to suit and I just cannot envisage Sea the Stars being beaten this year!

That said, in a field of four where two of the runners are at 200-1 it may be worth a cheeky punt on one of the others!!

As I've been away for a few days I'll give you two today! 2.15 York, Poet's Voice ridden by frankie detoori - Godolphin are the bang in form stable at the moment and I expect Poet's voice to win well

Normal service is now resumed and I'll have more from York tomorrow!
